Founded in 1890, St Ives Arts Club offers membership for artists, gallery space for exhibitions and an intimate upstairs theatre for live performances.
The Arts Club is a major September Festival venue, hosting a varied range of events throughout the fortnight.

Catch The Wind; St Ives in The 1960s FILM & SWINGING 60s PARTY

St Ives Arts Club brings you film delights taking you back to the swinging 60s!
60s themed night with fancy dress and themed drinks and music, plus showing of “Catch the Wind: St Ives in the 1960’s” on Tuesday 17th September.
Then 3 showings of the film with a Q&A with the director on Sunday 15th, Monday 23rd and Thursday 26th September in the afternoon.

“Catch the Wind: St Ives in the 1960s” is directed by award winning film maker Diana Taylor. The film gets it’s name from the famous musician Donovan who wrote his song Catch The Wind while staying in the town.

An Audience with Harry Glasson & Will Keating

Harry Glasson – the Cornish legend singer songwriter that wrote Cornwall My Home, as well as many other fine Cornish folk songs, talks about his extraordinary life, hosted by friend, and award winning singer songwriter, Will Keating. Enjoy a relaxed evening of stories and live music from two of Cornwall’s most popular artists of their time, with your chance to ask questions, make requests, join in the singing, and get to know what makes these two beauties tick! This will be an evening to remember!

Martyn Barker

After his successful sell-out show at last year’s September Festival singer/songwriter/guitarist Martyn Barker journeys once more from Goole to play at one of his favourite venues, the Arts Club in St Ives. Martyn likes to approach his main September Festival gig differently each year - those who managed to see his performance in 2023 can testify to that! The rough plan this year is to reflect on Martyn’s musical past but also to play some of his brand new compositions. Phil Saward will hopefully complement the live music proceedings with the odd recording from his ‘Bootlegger Sound System.'

Janet Axten - Promoting Crysede Silks in the Press 1920-1940

In the 1920s and 30s, there was a textile factory at the bottom of the island in St Ives. It was called Crysede and produced wood-block printed silk fabrics and garments, employing local people.
​
Understanding a company through its national press coverage provides a new perspective on local history. Until recently this has been an untapped resource. With access to on-line newspapers, Janet Axten, who has been researching Crysede for many years, shows how the rise and fall of Crysede Silks was publicised to a wide public.

Rob Barratt Comedian

Rob Barratt is a Dudley-born and Cornwall-based comic poet, humourist and singer. His brain-tickling, word-mangling performance combines clever word play, verse and song with satire, parody and audience participation. Rob deals with such important topics as squid, data-driven education, Neanderthal politics, the weather in Scotland, distressed furniture and his relationship with potatoes but beneath the humour lurk serious issues. In recent years Rob has appeared at folk, literature and arts festivals all over the British Isles and Australia.

David Tovey - The International Influence of the St Ives Art Colony Pre-1914
​

In the period prior to 1914, the St Ives art colony attracted numerous foreign artists so that there was a fascinating inter-change of influences between them and the British residents of the colony. However, in particular, St Ives developed an international reputation as a centre for the practice and teaching of marine painting. Indeed, the Australian, Charles Bryant, dubbed it ‘the Mecca of the seascapist’. This resulted in the colony playing host to artists who would go on to become the leading marine artists of their respective countries having experienced career-changing influences in St Ives. Leading art historian David Tovey gives a fascinating insight into the story.

She’s played festivals like Boardmasters and Cheltenham Jazz Festival and now she’s thrilled to be on the St Ives September Festival lineup with her band!

Carly and Sven look forward to returning to St Ives Arts Club as part of the St Ives September Festival line up!
Their sound consists of looped piccolo bass performed by Sven, accompanied by Carly’s beautiful, bewitching vocals. They play covers by well known artists such as Prince, Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Wonder to name a few, as well as original songs from their upcoming debut album.
The duo deliver a unique way of expressing personal experiences through their music that some listeners might be able to resonate with, whilst giving a nod to some of their influences such as Alison Krauss and Stanley Clarke.
There’s something for everyone in their performances. So don’t miss them making their mark together in the historic St Ives Arts Club at this year’s September Festival!

Hailing from the wild and beautiful northern shores of Cornwall, Winter Mountain blends melodic songs, an extraordinary voice and heartfelt lyrics in a sound reminiscent of a time before digital recording, when the emphasis fell on the importance of the live performance and the essence of the song. He’s supported acts like The Feeling, Elbow and Seal. Come and join him for an intimate night of music at the Arts Club this September Festival!

Global Jamming's Songs of St Ia

St. Ives' community music collective presents an evening of original song, music, film and spoken word inspired by our beloved town.
A host of local performers will delight with tales old and new, set to sound and images evoked by the magic and mystery of this special place.
PS: a feast for cat lovers too!
All proceeds to Badgers Food Forest CIC, Global Jamming's local community project.

Du Glas

Songs of miners, mutiny and murder; starvation, sirens and smugglers, that’s what you get when you leave this bunch of Cornish renegades alone with a load of wood, strings and drum skins for too long!! Du Glas offer their own brand of original roots music, combining influences from Americana and British folk-rock (and whatever else takes their fancy at the time). Their energy, humour and love of gin has incited such madness that audiences have thrown away their pints, danced in a downpour and bounced on the bar like a Bruckheimer.
With their fierce attitude, thumping rhythms and rousing tunes that will make you lose all your inhibitions, roar till your are throats sore and leave you talking like a pirate for the rest of the night.
