The Club Today
St.Ives Arts Club offers a variety of activities of an artistic and social nature for both members and the general public.
COFFEE AND TEA IN THE MEMBERS ROOM.
Available with cakes and biscuits to members and their guests every Friday morning between 10.45a.m. And 12.45p.m. Chess and Backgammon available
Also available 10a.m. to 4p.m. during most exhibitions of artwork at the club for members and those viewing the exhibition.
THE MONDAY ART GROUP.
Different Artists from the St.Ives area take turns to provide two art classes followed by two sessions developing this work supervised by our Arts Officer, Sally MacCabe 2p.m. Mondays. Free. Members only.
THE IMPS JUNIOR DRAMA GROUP
An open group, (no auditions!), all are welcome and will be given a chance to learn, have fun and perform in a supportive environment. The group, led by Mike Ezra, stages its’ own productions and is actively seeking members at this time. A small weekly fee is charged which provides your child membership of the Arts Club Imps. Mondays 6p.m. to 8p.m.
MANY DOORS MEDITATION GROUP
A little discussion but mostly meditation on Tuesday evenings 6.45p.m. To 8p.m. Free to members, General Public £2 or £1 depending on income level. Organised by Crispin Williams.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE SESSIONS
Chi Gong and yoga base exercises to keep the body supple and the spirit centred.
Wednesdays 9.30a.m. Free to members, a small charge to the general public. Organised by Paul Healey.
LIFE DRAWING SESSIONS
A chance to draw and paint nudes, a model is available but there is no tuition. Members only. £5 ½ day, £8 all day. The 2nd Thursday of each month 10a.m. to 4pm. Organised by Carrie.
POETRY, PROSE AND MUSIC
Readings and music around a theme. Monthly on a Saturday at 7.30p.m. Members and their guests only. Members free, a small donation from guests.
CLUB EXHIBITIONS
Held twice a year, for two weeks each in May and September, Members submit their work and selected works are displayed, for sale, both upstairs and downstairs in the club. The quality, generally high, seems to improve at every exhibition. Viewing free to the public.

OTHER ART EXHIBITIONS
Members can hire exhibition space in the members room on a weekly basis, the club charges 25% commission on sales and hire is subject to a minimum fee. Through this facility the club stages a wide range of excellent exhibitions covering a diversity of art forms and media.
DRAMA, COMEDY AND MUSIC, FILM AND MORE
Many local groups and performers use the Arts Club Theatre to stage public performances, including, more recently, Kulture Break (Chaotic, Comedy Cabaret), St.Ives Operatic Society, Café Frug (music, poetry and writing performed with panache), The Trencrom Revellers, Bobdog (Poetry, film, music and comedic, eclectic mix), Nicola Sings (beautiful singing with amusing interludes), Dave and Dee (Celtic and South American rhythm and much more), Cool School, Blues, Bluegrass, Art Animation, Shanti Baba (story telling and theatre), FOSIL (friends of St.Ives Library) and much more!
PARTIES AND DINING
Club lunches, usually on a Sunday, are always well attended and the club hosts parties from time to time for members and their guests, including the ever-popular New Years Eve bash when the clubhouse is ideally suited to sampling the sometimes-wild festivities in town.
LOCAL HISTORY
The Arts Club present a series of talks on subjects of local interest in conjunction with St.Ives Trust Archive centre. Everything from the history of St.Ives artists through archive film of St.Ives in the 1950’s to the design of seine net fishing gear
OTHER CLUB USE
The club is also used by individuals and groups for restricted entry events, including U3A, textile workshops, and a readers circle.
